you can control the timer on custom multiplayer games but you cannot control the timer speed on ranked games(must be on normal)xbox live keeps tabs on peoples ranks.

this game is like super awesome- i beat the game in like 11 hours on coop, and then right now horde is super challenging even with a bunch of friends online.
