It took me about 10mins to set up two cards on my laptops. I have the linksys WRTG54 802.11g wireless router and the cards work fantastic!! For the price, it is a great buy and simple to install. from Tigerdirect.com I would certainly recommend this product. Just one point to note. My old USB adapter (802.11b) showed excellent/very Good reception for my 802.11b router. But this one shows 'Low' reception most times even when sitting not-too-far from the router. from Buy.com Cons: After literally 2 minutes, the card would lose connection. Swapped this for a D-link and the D-Link worked in less time than it took this one to negotiate an IP address for it to work for 2 minutes then stop working. Other Thoughts: An extra few bucks will get you a quality PC Wireless card that works. from Newegg.com Pros: Works well and this Cardbus device is backwards-compatible with an older PC Card slot (as it should be). Sometimes I have to try 3-4 times before the card is connected, but this may be a problem with the laptop. Other Thoughts: I got my Trendnet TEW-421PC wireless card to work on DSL 3.0 and Puppy Linux 2.01 using the WinXP drivers off the CD that came with the card. Easy to install, although its installation pretty much mirrors that of almost all wireless PC cards on the market today, which is: (1) install drivers from a bundled CD-ROM, (2) reboot, (3) insert the PC Card, (4) review the vendor's proprietary configuration interface, and (5) decide between the proprietary interface and Windows "Wireless Zero Configuration" to manage the adapter. I had never worked with any TRENDnet products before, and I didn't know anything about this vendor's reputation. from Newegg.com However, I've since found that doing this will fix the connection/performance problems when this card is connected to some routers (of particular brands & models), but the problems persisted on the brands/models of other routers. I've found that the solution to this issue is to go to Marvell's website (the chipset maker for this card), & download the most recent drivers....ie, do NOT use TrendNET's drivers! The Marvell driver to use is for the "Libertas 802.11g(b) Client Solution", & is the "Libertas CB-35P/MB-35P driver - version 3.1.1.7". Also, and VERY IMPORTANT, the Netgear WG511v2 card uses the same exact Marvell chipset. from Newegg.com Pros: Cheap after the mailing rebate. Cons: Could not get WPA-PSK to work.
