we are now considering purchasing the apple airport extreme so that we can have wireless internet when traveling, as well as use it as an airport within our apartment when we are home. from Amazon.com in june, along with a new imac desktop, a new macbook laptop, a new canon multifunction printer, i went wireless at home with the aiport extreme. from Amazon.com but the manual tells how to set up the connection with a dsl modem or a network connection, but just mentions the dial-up mode and really doesn't explain how to set it up. from Amazon.com i just recently got a chepo dsl modem and just plugged it to the airport and booom i am online in 4 clicks with my mac-mini. from Amazon.com our tests indicate the range that you can expect in a typical office environment, but range in your own home or office may differ. from Cnet.com plan to spend some time studying the manual and surfing the apple web site if you want to do anything other than plug the base station directly into your dsl or cable modem. from Cnet.com all tests are run with chariot software using the tcp protocol and are run in our cnet offices over channel 11. from Cnet.com i decided to go with the airport extreme base station mostly because i have three macs at home. from Amazon.com i've been using wireless at home using linksys wrt54gv2 router for a couple of years. from Amazon.com as a longtime mac user, i have always had macs at home. from Amazon.com
