out of the gate, i wasn't impressed with the motion blur i was experiencing, so decided to experiment a bit with settings.
i kept adjusting lighting and settings in the program to make it so that i did not disappear a bit with the green screen.
loading the program and setting it up was a snap.
you will have to tweak your audio settings with the webcam software and on your os or sound card to get it right.- comes with green trim.
the 1.3mp clarity is everything i anticipated it to be in both high or lo light settings.
the microphone picks up sound really well, and the settings on the logitech camera are fun and easy to use.
what's great about it:?the video quality,no problem setting it up.
the set-up cd runs/tests all the features so it's ready to function to your needs within minutes [user can modify settings later, if needed].
one of the settings it uses is low light boost.
i feel the microphone does a great job filtering out the background noise of the nearby computers (provided you take the time to read the volume setting instructions and chose the proper volume.) as

yet i couldn't control the camera or change settings with that logitech program that was installed with my previous webcam.
however if you turn the video capture up to the "hd" setting (like 940 by something can't remember the number exactly) it still has pretty amazing quality for a web cam.
the only issue i have is when i restart my computer, i must manually tell it to follow me and reset mnay of my other settings.
now, i suggest using a motion censor light to brighten the area you would like to view because the auto bright setting on the camera is just ok.
i tried to tweak the settings, however, it was not successful.
i compared it side by side with the built in webcam on a 2008 dell xps notebook, both set to the same resolution and on the default settings.
the microphone settings keep changing everytime i use the microphone and so i must go back to the settings and change them again.
the default settings worked fine for me, so i didn't have to fiddle with anything.
using the lifecam program, i found that the lower resolution setting looked identical to the vx-3000 model i had been using.
no settings on skype even had to be changed or altered and the camera was working within seconds once installed.
everyone had an easy time setting things up and getting the ever-improving logitech software to run.
after setting it up and playing with it i found that it is a very good product.
works well with skype and the logitech's setting at 1.3m pixel send a large, sharp picture.
however, there was substantial lag, even with a well-lit room, until i turned off the "low light boost" option in the settings menu.
i returned it for this cam, and ended up with a great camera, that was simple to set up, has a good framerate, and great adjustability in its settings.
this is a prety good web cam for the prize you pay.it works really good in low light too, there are settings which can help you get the best out of it just takes 5 min to set everything and its a

but the bad frame rate (and audio out of sync) makes it unusable for me with that setting.

my only complaint is that occasionally skype forgets its settings for using this camera as the video and audio source.
take a look at it at: in windows live messenger i had to tweak some of the setting to get it to send via webcam mode but now it is working very well.
no problem installing, however skype audio settings were a little challenging.
low lighting conditions work though a brightly lighted setting is best.

there are multiple settings for achieving great quality, and i personally use the righlight technology.3.
the automatic recognition by windows live messenger was great and did not require any additional settings.
then i went back into skype, which also recognized my new webcam and i changed my settings to make the webcam the default video and microphone device.
encoded for upload as flv video at high quality settings.
i had to play with the settings a bit but again wow the picture is perfectly clear, very very nice color even in the dimly lit basement and the autofocus is wonderful.
there were no compatibility issues and setting it up was easy.
we needed a webcam that worked with macs and this was the one (well, almost the only one advertised as mac ready without additional programs or settings).
not an issue for me since i'm using this in a static setting.
it also has more explanatory settings that allow for creation of small file sizes.
auto contrast and other settings are all adjustable and auto-correct very nicely.
and would not expect it to be as fine as a $7000 video camera; you also need to review your computer display settings as this may limit the webcams capability to provide the most accurate resolution.
having said that i still don't feel that this webcam lived up to its hype (of 2mp video resolution and 8mp for photo as they are average at best at those settings, i.e.

since i am not setting up multiple cameras, it would be nice to have tilt, rotate ability, but this isn't the camera for that.
added the camera to my wireless security, put the camera in place, entered the ftp location in the camera's settings, set the motion detection, and was done within 1 hr.

yes, i read the manual, and yes i tried both the default and manual setting for the accompanying software.
if it doesn't, go to control panel and adjust the settings as necessary.
the only thing i didn't really like is that it is a little difficult to hook up to aim, and skype, because the program doesn't read the camera right away, you have to go in and fix the settings.
great camera, takes a little while to get used to all the settings but no major complaints.
my father had a little difficulty setting the microphone settings from the onscreen prompts while loading the drivers.
summary: this webcam has a very convenient design for setting up on your notebook or even desktop.
i had to disable all of the automatic settings and manually configure it all myself to get a decent picture out of it.
settings are fixed for these programs and the highest resolution is only available when you want to record a video through the quickcam softwarette.
