i like how it fits easily into my laptop carrying case so it is always with the computer.
i've got a gateway laptop computer, and it was very easy to set-up and i've been using it alot for local, national, and intercontinential video chats to my friends and family in different states and
i then purchased this one (quickcam deluxe for laptops) and i love it.
it stays hookedto laptop monitor well and if you need to adjust positioning when it is clipped on, it will stay where you put it.
sound in both directionsworked flawlessly on my laptop.
focus isn't automatic, you may have to view it remotely and then turn the focus lens ring to get a better picture.
pros: picture quality is not bad.

1st plug your camera into a single computer, laptop, or desktop.
better than average picture quality for a camera in this class.
it take a little fiddling to find the "sweet spot" for the configs, focusing and my own firewall setting but it's worth the time.
also, the manual focus has a focal range from infinite to less than quarter of an inch (if you keep unscrewing the lens).
supports activex and java applet.cons: no fixed focus.
note: it has a focusing ring on the lens that you may need to adjust to get the best picture.
the picture quality is good, does not work too well when facing a window.

loved how it could really zoom from far away and the picture quality.
but when i upgraded to 8 cameras,it started to become a problem.using the dview cam program,8 cameras started to freeze or cut out.i was also using a dlink dir 450 router and had a sprint air card
during the day the picture quality is actually really decent.
if pushed, i'd say the picture quality.
it also has the clearest picture, by far.
i used my laptop to configure them through an ethernet cable.
but the picture quality is very poor.
the developers focused so much on creating pretty icons (that are actually ugly), that they completely forgot about usability -- and worse, they forgot to document!!!
