per another comment elsewhere may even work on mac.
apparently ready for msn messenger, aol, etc.
auto-focus.
this small, easy to use, high quality web cam does everything as claimed and it can be mounted or set on it's stable base anywhere within the cords 5 foot reach.
the hinge bracket used for placing it on a monitor/ laptop is ok, but it's a bit awkward for laptops and has doesn't secure very well.
it not only looks cool setting on top of my 28" monitor, but it works great with skype as well.
had it working with windows live messenger within minutes of hooking up.
messenger, and it works great with it.
you can manually adjust the focus lens if you need to and it seems pretty fast most of the time.
the picture quality is quite good; if you're not initially satisfied, try playing with the settings a bit and it will look great.the clip is quite generous, and it can even latch onto the top of my
" although the physical features of the camera are great and the software that comes with it is very easy to use, it lacks some of the other extra-curricular features of its rivals."
even though it costs a little more than other brands, it works perfect with such messengers as ...
it has quick focusing, almost subtitutes for having to be there, and now she can talk and view with more friends and family.
it's just works so prefect and straight forward (easy) that i made all my friends and family members buy one.
both of us think it's easy to use and love it.
"i purchased this product for my leopard equiped mac, only to realize that it doesnt work with macs!
but this product was so easy i hooked it up and it was running in minutes the picture quality is amazing and now i can talk and see the people im talking to, i would highly recommend this product!
this product is amazing i was so excited when i got it because i have no idea how to hook anything up to the computer but this product was so easy i hooked it up and it was running in minutes the
periodically it needs to be unplugged and then plugged in at the start of a skype (for instance) web session to get the microphone to work, but that is a small inconvenience.
the only problem that i had was that the camera would cover part of my laptop lcd when it is mounted there.
found this to be an excellent high quality product and primarily use it with skype to converse with 4-year old granddaughter who lives in denver and otherwise see only once or twice a year.
this product listing is a bit misleading in that the mac can't really take advantage of the high resolution of this camera.
great product, easy to use, does what it is supposed to do!
i just got this camera to use with skype, however is there any way you can use it for snapshots?
the camera is recognized by ichat and skype, but it is not recognized by other 'skype-like' programs such as oovoo .....
the picture quality is perfect; doesn't skip frames or lag at all at full resolution (640x480, 30fps) however, i had to give features a 4 because the camera doesn't come with many features.
it was a breeze to set up and the picture quality is way better than i had expected.
the web copy doesn't specify, but this webcam does have a microphone.
the ''fun effects'' are really basic, but it's okay for kids, i guess.
i use it for skype and its the best camera ive ever had cons: the little button on the top is non programable
click and open as administrator) follow the windows installer steps at the end not the logitech's steps when downloading the camera( and make sure you have the new msn messengero the new skype .
it works very well on skype, and pretty goodon yahoo, aim, and msn.
couldn't get it to work so downloaded skype from the selections and it worked fine.
i like how it fits easily into my laptop carrying case so it is always with the computer.
i've got a gateway laptop computer, and it was very easy to set-up and i've been using it alot for local, national, and intercontinential video chats to my friends and family in different states and
it is easy to use and set up.
i find it difficult to use with my laptop because you cannot put the camera or top of the laptop screen, well , you can set it on top of the screen but it is not very stable.
the product works fine, also takes still photos and allows you to record audio (only) files using its microphone.
i like to keep things as simple as possible and for the purpose i would be using this for, this product works very well.
most users buying this camera, i'd think, should just consider the other bonuses of it over it though given you likely bought it for the combination of microphone and camera.
the camera works plug-and-play both with windows xp and with ubuntu 8.10 intrepid (tested it with skype), so no installation is required.
the video quality is excellent, and the built in mic provides clear sound on the other end.i also like the mount, it fits any width screen from my desktop pc to my laptop.
i also like the mount, it fits my thicker lcd desktop monitor and my laptop screen.
the mount is designed so that it works both with thin laptop lcds and with thicker desktop lcds, but it's not very stable on laptops, in that it tends to fall off if i move /shake my laptop.
it is not compatible with the mac osx operating system itself.
Mike has serious feed back problems
Great picture for the money.
I got a Creative Labs Live!
I had another webcam from creative and that was awesome but even though this one is costlier I dont like the quality of this webcam.
I just bought this video cam.
it works with ichat, skype, and a few other video-phone services.
even with minor inconveniences the picture quality pushes it back up to 5 stars.
i use a usb headset for audio; this camera doesn't have the [often useless] built-in microphone that most usb cameras come with.
did tested with that on skype.com.
i've been using the fire-i on my mac mini for about a year.
The webcam is easy to install a child could do it and the picture and voice connection is excellant.
It's a little on the pricey side, but I trust a logitech product.
great for the price.
I'll be returning this tomorrow and probably getting the Microsoft web cam instead.
This fit right on top of the computer and the picture is pretty clear.
what's not so great:?web cams in general are a bit pricey "i use this camera for skype and i also use it with getware's webcam live.
what's great about it:?plug and paly, easy to use, built in microphone what's not so great:?nothing.
what's great about it:?very easy to set up.
what's great about it:?very easy to set up and use.
no problems using skype.
pros easy to install, clear viewing, good color cons programing difficult, have trouble using remote comuter access comment very prompt shipping, would do business with this supplier again
i have on average in a two year period and 4 camera installations for different clients contacted toshiba 8 or 9 times for advanced help in implementing web integrations, as well as some basic
firefox, macs, linux need not apply, it wont work for you.
setup was easy on our internal network.
great product, best of what's to be found upnow !
focus isn't automatic, you may have to view it remotely and then turn the focus lens ring to get a better picture.
the web interface is clean and easy to use.
the documentation basically stinks!
plug and play, easy to use.
other thoughts: i may try to return to newegg anyway, but i've been in situations like this with them before, and they basically say "to bad".
i tested it with skype then even put it on my windowsill to record my bird feeder.
note that i did try to install this camera on an older laptop, an ibm thinkpad a20p running xp home.
what i like most about this cam is that it's easy, straight forward and top quality.
other than this, the software allows you to do what you need to do, but it seems overly complicated for a simple webcam.
it was really easy to set-up and i was amazed at just how clear the picture was.
great with skype.
however, i have thought that it would be even better if i could enjoy high quality video over the messenger or any video conferencing software.
newer macbooks may have a camera, but for all of the rest of us, the microsoft lifecam works with skype, ichat and looks like all of the other chat programs.
i compared it side by side with the built in webcam on a 2008 dell xps notebook, both set to the same resolution and on the default settings.
it takes a pretty decent tug or pull on the cord to shift the webcam significantly--i've got the cord bundled on the back of my laptop.
external speaker has to be hooked up to the camera since it has no built in speaker other thoughts: i had been looking for a simple camera for a while, and when this was on sale, i went for it.
also, they included a java applet for people who use firefox.
ftp to remote host worked after easy firmware upgrade.
pros: used the included pgm (on disk) to change the camera's ip to be within my network's range - very simple.
its range was about 10-20 feet, through walls.-while audio is 2-way, an external speaker has to be hooked up to the camera since it has no built in speaker other thoughts: i had been looking
i was looking for a webcam, microphone and speaker all-in-one solution to reduce desktop clutter.
sound is not necessarily better than my laptop but no biggy.
i think it even has face recognition and auto-focus.
I guess my perception was off, because when this arrived I was somewhat surprised at how small it was.
I received this on March 30th.
installing it was extremely easy and it has a very nice adjustable head.
i use this mainly when i talk with my friends all over the world via skype.
works well with skype.
no microphone..
i would do a video review but theres no sound on my 3ewbcam
