What's great about it:?Looks like a cyclops penguin almost, kinda cool What's not so great:?makes your face uglier in my opinion "I bought this over the other leading logitech cameras hoping that 8 megapixel definition would help out my complexion. I guess too much definition wasn't exactly the best choice for me.
I love this camera. This is my 2nd Logitech camera & I love the stand with this one. My other one sits on the monitor, but this one works better.
We even enjoy dinner together with our laptop computers! You will not be sorry if you get this camera. I have had others before and Logitech is the best! :)
The camera was packaged in the usual clear plastic material we see hanging in stores. In unpackaging it, I tried to remove what I thought was part of the packaging covering the camera lens. It turned out to be part of the camera, as Logitech advised me in response to an email question. The response was given rather promptly, and Logitech support deserves praise for response time--and for follow up emails asking whether they resolved the problem satisfactorily.
I use it to when I remote login from work to see my wife when she calls me on the phone. She doesn't know how to operate the webcam so I set everything up myself. We love the Orbit AF!
I've had other cheap webcams in the past but decided to spend a bit more with the Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF. Definitely worth every penny.
Zeiss lens, or not, this webcam would not focus in either automatic mode or in manual mode. It was as if there was grease on the lense. I spent hours uninstalling and reinstalling, trying different ports, and trouble shooting my PC, as I followed the instructions from Logitech. It was clear that Logitech wanted to make my system (modern, powerful, LOTS of memory, etc) the scapegoat without any thought that their hardware/software/firmware might be defective.
I own a Logitech Quickcam 4000, two 5000s, this orbit plus just ordered a 9000. I fought with myself for quite some time on whether to order the cheaper 9000 or the orbit with the pivoting internal movement capabilities, but in the end evidently made the wrong choice.
Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF Auto Focus System (Black) As received the optics worked great, but the software caused major system problems in VISTA. Logitech support provided a fix for the VISTA problem, but that still left the automatic brightness control, and face tracking not working.
I am extremely happy with this camera, its face tracking features are amazing and I cannot fault the quality of the picture it provides. I was born in Australia but now living in America, and a month after moving to the US, conversations over the phone just didnt do any justice, so we each decided to buy a webcam, and it has taken away a slice of the heartbreak. Its facetracking feature is great when my wife and I are talking together and it automatically keeps us both in the middle of the video.
