Best Voice Recorders and Transcribers for Recording Choir, Voices

i want to use it primarily to do interviews for family histories and was worried i would need to buy a lapel mike, but i can see this thing is going to pick up voices from a distance without any

the olympus ds-30 picks up voices well in a large room.

once set up with the proper settings it picks up voices but not interference such as air conditioners etc.
