built in stereo microphones will do a good job for lecture recording and does not have a problem picking up background noises, not as bad as other recorders.

this little recorder does the job, i use it to record church band practice then hook it to a amp.

the westone's sounded a lot better but both systems demonstrated that the ws-311m did an adequate job of capturing the ambient sounds of a band stage.

i would highly recommend this ws-311m to do the job!

the considerably low price comes from the fact that it only records 104 hours maximum, and there are plenty of recorders which can record far more, but this one does the job fantastically.

sure, there are better quality digital recorders out there, but this one adequately gets the job done.

with the mic set for dictation, it does a good job of limiting the audio to your voice only.

i guess, it depends on what you need this recorder for, always have some "back up" if this is apart of your long term job.

i haven't used it much yet, but it seems to do a fantastic job, and it cost about what my olympus micro 37 cost over 10 years ago.

simple controls for interview work and it does a good job in small group meetings (with a noise-cancel mike).

i can say that, if the recorder dies while recording, it tends to do a good job of closing the file that was being recorded so that you don't lose your existing data.

some notes: when recording in the car it does a great job of blocking out background noise.
