i have tried the sony icd-p520 before this model which also was a good model for it's price but in my big lecture halls, the sound pickup had a lot of background noise.

other thoughts: for the price, i wish it would have come with 512mb, and maybe a carrying case as i'm afraid i will ding this, than again its my clumsiness and not the recorders fault!
