The Olympus digital recorder was a Valentine surprise for my wife. She was very excited upon opening her gift. from Buy.com The VN-4100pc was given to our not-for-profit. We will find use for it, but it has serious problems. from Amazon.com An external mic plugs in very easily. The only thing I would have like to see added was a USB port or other way to hook up this recorder to my computer. The applicance is easy to use and menus are fine paging through, but it's a painful learning curve getting the encrypted .wav files off your pc/mac to anything else- burning to a cd, uploading to another device, or even changing the format to something other than .wav. from Amazon.com I just purchased this at a well known office supply store.
