the dyson looks great and it claims to never lose suction.
the suction on both of them is really good and the upright lifts the nap of the carpeting really nice.
i’d tried other lightweight vacuums in the past and their suction was dubious at best.i made a beeline for the internet to start researching.
i suppose that hoover thought consumers want a 12 amp machine, but amps are like gas mileage; if you get more suction for less amperage it's like getting better mileage.
you'll find yourself using it often since it's so effective at removing dirt and stains from your rugs, carpet, and upholstery.

it picksup dog dander on the carpet and furniture and the suction almost dries completely the first time around.

i have not yet used the upholstery/crevice/stair attachments yet, but think that this might not be the perfect device to use on long staircases, as the hose is not terribly long, and the directions
- the suction is great, it actually vacuums up nearly all the water out of the carpet
follow the directions, vacuum first, don't use boiling water, and try to make each rinse(up)/wash(back)/suction(up&back) pass in the recommended 24 second cycles.
the upholstery attachment works good but is tricky to get used to.
based on the amount used and lack of discernable difference, i cannot recommend the "professional" cleaner but instead hoover 40321130 premium pet formula carpet/upholstery detergent, 128-ounce,
I didn't even miss the self-propelled capability because this one is so much lighter, but I do miss the hand vac for upholstery.

It works great, excelent power when used on the floor or with the upholstery accesory.
It's relatively easy to assemble, sturdy, powerful, cleans really well, has allergy filtration, has the basic tools to reach crevices and clean upholstery, is far quieter than my last vacuum cleaner
You have to constantly use your hands to clean the dusty and disgusting filter (it really makes you miss those vacuum bags!) Secondly, the hose that connects to attachments for edging and reaching
Pros: Decent upholstery attachment.
I got this machine for pet hair, and the attachments/hose have NO cleaning power on upholstery.
The little upholstery attachment is nearly useless.
My husband loves the upholstery attachment.
It also has several attachments, one of which is EXTREMELY useful for cleaning upholstery.
The pet tool is perfect for the staircase and upholstery.
It can be used either as a canister or an upright, on carpet and hard surface floors, upholstery and blinds.
The extension tube and upholstery cleaner gets PET HAIR.
The detachable dusting brush is great for upholstery, but use normal power with Power Boost for the tight spots.
