After years of wasting my money and time buying, using, attempting to repair and finally discarding both upright and canister vacuums, I had little real hope the Electrolux Oxygen would work. Although this vacuum won kudos from most of the consumer websites I visited, years of disappointment left me dubious. from Amazon.com I purchased this vacuum after doing a lot of research. I was needing to replace my Kenmore Progressive Canister, which is falling apart after 6 years of use. from Amazon.com After only 5 months of light use the attachment to the motorized brush just fell apart. This is a common problem with this vacuum. There is no quality here that you would expect from Electrolux. Ours arrived with a faulty cord reel. from Amazon.com I have two beagles whose only job in life appears to be shedding. I had a persian-style rug that looked all faded and all the fibers were good and smushed. I'd tried everything from standard vacuuming (with my old clunker) to brushing it with the dog brushes and trying to get the fur off with packing tape and I just couldn't get the fur out. I needed to replace an old upright...a basic $200 bag upright that lasted about 6 years. I wanted to switch to a canister because I have multiple levels in my home with different floor types, rug, tile, wood and stairs.
