Several times we took it in for repair. Several repairs we did ourselves. A few months ago, the handle got stuck in the upright position and the release lever was stuck and wouldn't release. I purchased the Hoover Supreme Mach 3.3 Windtunnel in '96 or '97 and it is still going, however, just recently,the motor is making a loud noise just as I shut it off. I bought the Hoover Windtunnel (on the recommendation of my sister and sister-in-law) 2 years ago, and this is the third time it needs to be serviced. The first two times it was under warranty -- the first time was because the carpet-height tabs broke off (which I was then told happens frequently); and then because the vacuum wasn't picking up. from Amazon.com The first month I owned this vacuum it worked pretty well, however that soon changed. The suction on this vacuum has decreased dramatically. We keep the bristles on the bottom clean and clear, however this vacuum now struggles to pick up hair and little pieces of paper.
