Pros: Great suction (when filters are clean) Handy lift-off feature Stylish looks from Shopping.com I'm disappointed in this vac. It's not just bagless vacuums, I had two Phantoms I was happy with, and only went with this model because Phantom went out of business. This one stopped working slowly but surely. from Target.com I bought it from Target in December 2004, and within a few months the HEPA filter cover broke off, and you cannot get the latch as a separate part. Duct tape and super glue. from Target.com I really liked this vacuum at first despite it being VERY heavy but after barely two years it's completely stopped working and before it finally died the handle of the vacuum completely ripped off, screws and everything. No repair. from Amazon.com I didn't have any problems with it losing suction from dirty filters as some people mentioned, but it did short out as many folks have mentioned. I kept noticing a hot smell the last couple of times I used it, and finally started seeing smoke. As other reviewers mentioned, on the bottom of the canister where the canister plugs into the upright handled, the rubber/plastic material around the prongs was completely melted and the metal had turned black. This would have been a great vacuum, but the fact that the company hasn't done anything about this problem and how dangerous it could be would prevent me from every buying another Bissell or recommending them to anyone. from Amazon.com I have barely had this vacuum for a year and, when it was new it worked fine, not great, fine. Bissel lift-off units work extraordinarily well but the electrical connection between the base and lift-off portions is a weak spot. Recently I started to smell an electrical burning odor. I noticed when I lifted off the canister that where it is seated when connected to the main frame the prongs were charred and the rubber seat was burnt.
