Well, I have to start out by saying that we are Hoover people. Our last wind tunnel lasted 16 years with my wife, who is a consummate clean freak. from Amazon.com Hoover U8311-900 WindTunnel 2 Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner My wife and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how effective and efficient this vacuum cleaner performs. We love the EXTRA LARGE red and green indicator lights on top that tell you when the machine is drawing dirt (red) and when it is no longer finding dirt (green). from Amazon.com This is my second Hoover windtunnel(bagged). The first one I pretty much wore out( it moved to the basement). from Amazon.com We wore out our old Hoover. Anything Hoover advertises as "Windtunnel" whether it be this model or any other model is totally valueless. I bought one about a year and a half ago and now the electric switch you can no longer push to turn on. from Amazon.com I've owned two Hoover Windtunnel's previous to this one, and loved both of them. Before purchasing this vacuum, I decided to try something new. from Amazon.com My previous vacuum was a Hoover windtunnel (bagged and self propelled) from 15 years ago. I loved that vacuum. from Amazon.com While I agree that the unit is heavy, overall it does a better than average cleaning job. The main issue I have is not with the unit, rather it is with the W2 bags. from Amazon.com I am a slight individual and it is a bit cumbersome. The good news is I live on one floor. No hefting this beast up stairs. One more side note - the weight of this vacuum is comparable to almost all other vacuums with similar features. from Amazon.com Prior to this vacuum, I had a Sanyo, which I considered expensive ($400), for 8-10 years. I'm not especially gentle with my vacuums, but I do take them in for regular tune up cleanings. I was happy with the Sanyo until we added a long-haired dog to the mix. from Amazon.com
