The IOGEAR USB 2.0 Peripherals Sharing Switch (GUB201) has had some bad reviews like it worked for a short time and ... Well, I have been using the hub for our Epson printer, my laptop and my wife's tower system and it has always changed when toggled, and the printer works when selected. from Amazon.com I run the Iogear 2 to 1 to share a printer between the PCs on my home network and my office laptop which is on a corporate network. THE PRODUCT: With fear in my eye, I opened the package to the IOGEAR USB 2.0 Peripheral Sharing Switch, and followed the instructions. They went as follows: from Amazon.com Many all-in-one printer units do not come with an internal ethernet card, allowing other computer network users to have equal access to all printer/scanner/fax/copy functions. Therefore, when configuring the all-in-one printer via the USB port, only a single main computer has all printer functions available, while hosting ONLY the print function (not scan function) to other users on the network. This Iogear 2-TO-1 switch allows two computers to access all all-in-one functions independently (not concurrently). The Iogear device is plug-and-play and literaly setup in the amount of time that it takes you to plug in the cords. from Amazon.com Used manually there is no software to install, just plug in the cables. A second USB male A to male B will be needed either purchased or one left from some other device. The Iogear works perfectly for our low volume needs and was a breeze to set up...just plug and play.
