I have been a fairly regular Belkin purchaser in the past but this hub may change my loyalties. I had noticed the issue with overheating over the course of the life of the hub but chose to overlook it. from Amazon.com A nagging USB problem was disappearance sporadically of My Book external J-drive from My Computer. Solved by Belkin. from Amazon.com I bought this Belkin hub about a year ago to use for my 2 External Hard drives, Printer, Wireless USB receiver, USB bluetooth receiver, USB keyboard & mouse, and USB gamepad controller. I plugged it directly into the wall since I leave it on continuously (as oppeosed to a surge protector that I cut off when computer is not in use.). from Amazon.com The Belkin 7-port is a nicely designed USB hub and works well for one to two years. (I have had five of them.) But I still went ahead and bought it because I always trust in belkin quality; 2. Not sure what Belkin is doing with these routers -- but definitely buyer beware on this. Just because it works out of the box (or for the first 30 days) doesn't mean that you got a "good" one. from Amazon.com I love the design of this unit, and it's very convenient having the ports on top for quick connect of thumb drives. However, I had one die after using it awhile. Belkin replaced it for free, but after I loaded this one up with devices and used it for a bit, it died as well. I really need all the ports because I have many items connected to a notebook with only 2 internal ports, but I'm going to give up on Belkin and look for a different hub to replace this one. from Amazon.com
