unfortunately, the manfrotto 488rc4 midi ball swivel head and quick release mounting plate i put on it increased it's weight substantially.
i bought it with the head and the spiked foot.
i also bought the bogen swivel/tilt head, which allows me to easily adjust the angle of the camera independent of the angle of the monopod.
i use a bogen #3265"squeeze handle" fully adjustable head on this to complete this combo.
i bought it along with the 3229 quick release head, and the simplicity of the design is flawless, and the quality is exceptional.
i bought this retail, and threw a 486rc2 ball head on it.
has extendable legs and the ball head holds your camera firmly.
the ball head may be small, but so is my mini dv camcorder.fit and quality on this little pod is apparent.
the head is well designed and easy to use.
the only improvement i could suggest would be a ball head instead of the pan/tilt.
cons: loose headphone port.
pros: music, easy to carry around cons: no color, headphones, click wheel, itunes the ipod mini is good, but there isn't much to it besides the fact it holds your music.
yes - no ( report problem ) good, but..., may 12, 2007 reviewer: sanatv_9 - see all sanatv_9's reviews overall: battery life: features: portability: quality: sound
i've cranked it down to the point i thought it would break and the head still slips.
strengths: price ability to changing tripod feet leveling bubble light weight use with vdo and digital/film camera weaknesses: adjusting tripod head can be slow.
very pleased with the tripod - it has a very nice silky feel to the catches and threads that hold the head in place.
i'm concerned that the handle is plastic and the pan-head is tight when trying to move up and down.
in order to move the head up and down during a shoot, the handle must be unscrewed many turns, and the whole upper assembly (and camera) jiggles always while doing this, thus ruining any attempts at
i did alot of research on both my cam and tripod before purchasing, and was considering one of the sony tripods before my purchase, but was steering towards one of the more expensive fluid-headed
it is pretty smooth for a non-fluid filled head.
weaknesses: perfect for small consumer cameras but noticed some twisting of head with heaver prosumer such as pd170.
the big feature of the sony tripods which separates it from the generics pieces, are the controls built into the handle of the head.
other than those points, it's a nice tripod built in level, adjustable tilt on the head, quick set up ofthe legs.
you have to unscrew the head handles to pack it in the medium slik carrying case but it only takes a couple of minutes.
the panning head with the dual handles are positioned to make fine controlled adjustments with the camera mounted.
but the pan head is less than average quality.
i just wanted to let you know that the head does not have a bubble level that is ubiquitous nowadays.
the plastic on the leg locks craked and now the legs fall out.also, the head is stiff and combersome, and the quick release primitave compared to a bogen or other brand.
great value, the head is much sturdier than the cheap [...] one i had before...it ended up snapping off after two uses with a d80.
the tripod does come with two bubble levels (one on the pan head, similar to the type you'd find on a level lying around the house, and the second which is the circular kind where the bubble lines up
everything is fine it feel solid and it comes whit 2 easy-remove cap, the only thing i dont like is that the joints and the head are made of plastic, i dont like how plastic looks, thats it
the anglular adjustements are a little clunky, especially compared to a nice (expensive) ball type head, but for the low price this unit sells for it can't be "dinged" for that.
- it does not have a ball head.
i recommend this tripod for all type of video, but for people who want a true fluid head!
shorten one leg, reset the head level and you can shoot.
i found that it was hard to adjust the head to the sony pdx10 with a wide angle adaptor that i was using.
i recommend this tripod for all type of video, but forpeople who want a true fluid head!"}},{r:{id:906582,v:1,t:1,r:5,h:"great for move-and-shoot situations
the tripod is offered with a three way pan head which is load rated at 15lbs, or you can purchase the legs only, as i did.
based on internet reviews, i ordered the slik pro 700 dx with the 800 ball head.
after going to b&h photo he confirmed that i only bought the legs, so that was my stupidity, the good thing was that he recommended another head after allowing me to see the one that i should have
even the full assembly with head is less than [$].
it is sturdy and the fluid head is nice, but with cap nuts scattered on the floor and a crank that falls out - it would be difficult to recommend this to anyone.
consit is heavier than what i am use to.they could have made the pan head handle longer.
consproduct has degree settings and an index mark on the head would be helpful.
