when i first ordered this product from amazon i thought it was just a camera tripod - but was tickled to find out it supported other devices as well!
i wasnt sure whether or not to buy this product for my nikon s10 merely because i was worried it wouldnt be able to support the weight (about 3 pounds).
just wanted to make sure you were aware if you have a s60 or camera with similar offset tripod mount (it's way off to the side on the s60), this smallest gorillapod will not support it adequately.
it provides fairly firm support for the camera, and has a quick release mechanism for extended tripod work if needed.
it will support even older, heavier cameras and takes all the irritation of either propping a camera up on sticks and stones or using a mini-tripod which is not adaptable to many outdoor circumstances
setting it up as a tripod is definitely not enough to support the weight (although i assumed it wouldn't); the legs would buckle and the whole thing would collapse.
very well made sturdy product, purchased it recently and have been using it ever since, my d70s and a 18-70mm or a 55-200mm lens is easily supported by this tripod.
remember it is meant give additional support and not total support.
it is strong enough to support a d200 with grip with a 12-24 f/4 attached.
it's sturdy enough for a nikon d40 or d90 with an 18-200 zoom lens and gives you just the right amount of support for the job.
the single lock knob tightens both the tilt and rotation of the ball and socket head - not as flexible as separate controls but certainly leading to a more compact and still strong support.
addition it will support a lot of weight which is very useful for

perfect support in unpredictable settings when traveling.
folds small enough to fit in my motorcycle bag yet strong enough to support my 200mm - 400mm nikon lens.
it does have a weight limit so some of the supersized glass may have weight issues, but it is able to support my canon 30d, battery grip and a 70-200mm lens.
i've read many places that the shifting central column is nothing but a gimmick as it moves the center of balance off of the support and negates a lot of the support the tripod provides.
when horizontal, i always have the ballhead end of the center column in as close as possible to the top of the tripod for the best support.
it can support your heavy body camera with a heavy telephoto lens.
i don't get why so many complain about that--if you need this level of support and you don't want the weight, sorry--you just have to fork over the $$ for a carbon fiber.
strong enough to support a heavy dslr.
i've used this monopod as a hiking staff as well as camera support.
this is definitely a quality piece of equiment and bogen seems to have one of the best reputations of camera support manufacturers.
it supports my kokak p850 perfectly.
it firmly supports my digital rebel, sigma 70-300mm apo, and 28-70mm f/2.8 ex.
this tripod is quite sturdy and supports my fairly heavy nikon d200 very well.
when clamped they provide sturdy support, but when unclamped you can really feel the "wobbliness" in the construction design (though this doesn't really affect performance).
i just opened the box and one of the center supports is not holding to the leg properly.
camera support is solid & stable enough.
this tripod covers two of the most important characteristics of a good support, as it is very stable and solidly built, and it is also lightweight and easy to carry.
the tripod itself is very sturdy, supports a wide range of heights (including its lowest height which works nicely for macro shots), and it is light and compact (which makes it great for travel).
not support the weight of your set-up and will begin to tilt
i have several slik tripods and having one replaceable camera mount to fit all of their camera supports' would be nice.
all three legs lock in the same initial position but then can be further independently adjusted to give the proper angle for supporting the 11 pounds you put on top.
supports slrs, but is light enough to work well with point and shoot cameras and binoculars.
i considered their light weight version, but it doesn't seem to support the weight of the 200mm f/2.8 lens that i have.
it is lightweight, sets up and adjusts easily and is the perfect accessory for supporting my digital slr when shooting in low light conditions where use of flash is not possible.
when combined with the optional folding tripod base, the components provide good, steady support.
i had an slr film camera with an old all-metal-and-glass 300mm lens without a support collar mounted on the monopod, and it worked pretty well, although i think that is kind of the limit for the ball
i wish a support legs.
it is light, just under 4lbs and sturdy enough to support all but the heaviest camera and lens combos.
it is the best i've seen for the price and easily supports several of my cameras without issue.
the tripod should be able to support even slrs with telephoto lenses.
i have a back injury that make it difficult to support my heavier lenses but a tripod is overkill sometimes.
it is very easy to use, gives excellent support, and folds up quickly and easily.
my back has gotten much better recently so i'm not using this monopod as much for back support anymore.
supporting massive weight, it does the job.
it's even doubled as a "photographer support device" on
just step on the pedal, pull up the head and you have a custom-made support.
