if you have a point and shoot camera, either still or video, this is a handy little tripod.
i would recommend this tripod for use with point and shoot cameras, but not dslr's of any make.
i recommend it for point and shoots only though.
they are handy for timer shots, self-shots, and a serve as a great handle for the tiny point and shoot pocket cameras.
i keep one with each of my point and shoot cameras.
i have the smallest gorillapod and it works perfectly with my little point and shoot camera.the plastic locking ring is a little hard to use though, so i will probably never fully lock my camera onto

i have the smaller version for my point and shoot and love it.
there was no issues with mounting it to my camera (a tiny cannon point and shoot) and even with my heavier video camera (mid-sized sony mini-dv camera) it didn't budge or slip from the position i set
i've got a small point and shoot canon camera and it works great with that camera.

this camera and lens combination is absolutely much heavier than the point and shoots for which this tripod was intended, but the tripod has never let me down.

if you are not really going to play with the gadgets on this camera that much and want a pocketable point and shoot with excellent, amazing optics, pick the fx-35.
4.under $200 - our other point and shoot doesn't have sound with video so we had to get a new one but didn't want to spend a ton.
much better point and shoots are available for the price.
