This tripod is very light and very ridgid. The Q90 column is very usefull. With different leg angles, extensions, and the Q90 column, you can get the camera position you need on ANY terrain. with a little extra work, the column can be removed and inserted upside down for even more variety of shooting positions. from Amazon.com After reading Kelby's Digital Photography 1 book, I took one of his first suggestions: buy a really good tripod. It is very sturdy in spite of how light it is. I still use my Manfrotto aluminum tripod at times when I'm not going to do a lot of walking. The Q90 center system is a wonderful feature I have used this a few times and really enjoy having it available. Both are quite satisfactory but a bit heavy. I wanted a lighter tripod that would be easier to travel with but with the rigidity of my old tripods and the convenience of quick lock leg adjusters and with a quick action adjustable ball head. Its design allows quick setup of a firm camera mount in contorted positions making the 190CXPRO3 an extremely handy and flexible tool.
