It is small, light and can hold up to 8kg which is more than enough to hold a 70-200mm f2.8 lens. I love the G lock which doesn't exist on the previous version of the Gitzo traveller tripod. from Bhphotovideo.com I bought this Gitzo for when I really need to travel light (I own the GT3541XLS as well for when I need a sturdier tripod). I got the 1541T (with a lightweight Really Right Stuff head) for travelling light with hand luggage only. from Amazon.com I was a little hesitant about paying this much for a tripod but all I can say is that it is half the weight of most I have lifted yet extends to the same size. It is very compact when closed (about 17") and weighs (with the Gitzo G1278M head) about 3 pounds, which is great when I travel.
