i love the different browning selections so you get exactly the lightness and/or darkness you want.
the dials on the front that are for adjusting the darkness level don’t seem to do very much, so the toast is either light or burnt.
wide range of toasting darkness keeps everyone happy.
i'm not sure why the darkness control goes to all the up to 10 as we have found that setting it to 4 seems to be plenty dark enough.
you can see at all times what darkness you have the toaster set to.
sadly, although you can still choose between 1 and 4 for white bread toaster settings (or 1 to 5 for dark), almost half of your toasting options are for degress of darkness which fall into catagory
finally a toaster that has the range of toasting to cover any degree of darkness - no more pushing the lever down 2 or 3 times.
this thing is very powerful - i had to turn down the darkness setting to 2 or below or it over-browned whatever i was toasting.
white bread but if you're like me and prefer a bread with a bit more density, be prepared to push the handle down for a second go even if you had the darkness dialed all the way up to the max.
very attractive - easy to adjust darkness.
that is, it works fine if you like the making toast from the classic soft, spongy american white bread but if you're like me and prefer a bread with a bit more density, be prepared to push the handle
i like the defrost feature, the darkness control, and the fact that it centers items to be toasted between heat sources, and toasts bagels more in the center than on the crusts.
i've found that if the darkness setting is adjusted for the type of bread (ie, higher for darker breads and lower for lighter colored breads) it does not burn the toast as several people indicated in
i like the visual darkness options and tracking--especially since they are in the front.
what i love about this toaster is that the darkness dial is digital so you can set it to exactly the proper setting and it counts down, with a flashing indicator, to show you how much time you have
it toasts my bread though my friends like playing with the darkness knob and i sometimes get funny toastings.
you can select the darkness of your toast and pop it up.
quiet operation, with easily set darkness dial.
rarely do we dial any darkness number past 2.
my only complaint is even when you set the darkness of toast to the highest setting, it doesn't darken the toast as much as i personally like.
i do find that i have to put it on setting 4 to get the desired darkness, though.
the defrost option is very effective, the slots are large enough for any commercially produced bread (my previous toaster, a dualit, was not,) bagels fit well, and the reheat option reheats well
this toaster replaced a cheap drug store toaster that you had to experiment with the darkness knob and it couldn't keep the bread down unless you worked the handle just right.
the black dial with numbers on it is how you adjust the darkness
the only downfall to this toaster is the darkness selector knobs turn to freely.
easy to adjust darkness controls.
i will caution the readers that the light/dark setting goes up to 7, but a medium darkness is at 3, so start low.
cons: not a big deal, darkness button?has play in it, does not compromise toaster.?
the darkness control shows settings of 1 thru 5, but in fact the 1 setting means warm bread while the 5 setting will give you light to medium brown toast, but even then, only sometimes.
it has a pretty broad range--i've never gone higher than 4 out of 7 on the darkness scale, but i don't like really dark toast.
the settings for defrost, reheat, bagel and cancel all function well as do the 7 scales of darkness.
the control buttons (one of the reasons why we bought it) are not functioning, neither is the darkness control knob.
after doing the suggested burn-in (one cycle with no bread - and yep, there really is a noxious odor from that), i set the darkness control to about 4.5 (ranges from 1 to 7).
