after just a few months of use, the lever pops up after a few seconds and i have to push it back down 2 or 3 more times in order for it to toast my bread.

This toaster is great looking, and if you toast regular loaf bread, it's a 5 out of 5, however it has a weak spring up mechanism when toast is done, and will not pop up bagels!
