Review: I purchased this toaster because I liked the stainless steel and black?rounded "old fashioned" look.? I also liked the relatively compact size,?fit easily on my counter,?and the front controls.? At first, the very bright digital ... from Shopping.com Had to take the B&D model back to Wal-Mart because it was dead out of the box. Like the styling of this toaster and so far it hasn't disappointed me with its function... My only beef so far (and I should have realized this before I bought it) is with the digital display. My wife and I are old school and unplug the toaster when it is not in use. from Amazon.com The second one decided to break a little after 1 year mark - it would overheat and then shut itself off even when not in use. My husband and I tried to make one set of toasts at a time between unplugging/cooling for several minutes, and then we decided to throw away the appliance due to safety concerns. I really liked the way it looked, and I had such good experiences with Hamilton Beach products in the past, so this was a real shame.
