I am a brand new star gazer. I puchased this telescope after a long research of telescopes. from Telescopes.com I have been into astronomy for about 5 years. Up until this telescope Celestron has been a very good and dependable piece of equipment. After 3 attempts at using this scope, I am sending it back. from Telescopes.com I love the telescope but am having a great deal of trouble contacting Celestron for assistance. from Telescopes.com Very pleased with optical quality, nexstar sky align left me very unimpressed,I have been unable to get the scope aligned,and have yet to recieve any responses to the emails I sent for tech support weeks ago. I will reserve my final evaluation for less harsh environmental conditions on the motor and,short battery life. from Telescopes.com the computer is great but it can be a pain sometimes to get it to accept your alignment stars. but when it does it usually gets pretty close to the object you tell it to go to. some of the options on the nexstar computer can be confusing to find. but once you do it once its easy to remember. from Telescopes.com I have had the chance to use my SLT 102 several times, now and have formed some impressions. First, the optics are first rate. from Telescopes.com This is my third - and smallest - telescope. I own a Meade 4-inch SCT, and a Celestron 8-inch SCT. The 102 SLT is WAY more fun than my other two, and the easist telescope I've ever used. from Telescopes.com Here are the features I think I paid this kind of money for: 1) Wide field of view. Because the scope is short tubed, it sees a wider field of view than a longer tube refractor. 2) Huge 102mm lens.
