Had problems w/computer overheating and son told me a cooling pad was the way to go. It has made such a big difference and set up was a breeze from Amazon.com I've had this for a couple of days now and it works great. I have Dell XPS 1530 (great laptop) that's on 16 hours a day. from Amazon.com I also have the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk which is by far the most elegant in laptop pads I've seen. The problem is that even with the mesh material, the heat on your legs will eventually build up especially with the weight of the laptop resting on it then pushing down on you. from Amazon.com I bought this for my HP laptop that has a fan issue and tends to overheat. This cooling pad really works and an added bonus is that it makes the laptop keyboard more comfortable to use. from Amazon.com Immediately (within 30 seconds) of plugging this into my laptop (a Dell Latitude D420, a model known to run hot and have heat issues) my CPU temperature (as measured by the program RealTemp) went up 5 degrees C, from 68 to 73. Within 10 minutes, it was up another 9 degrees, to 82F. I spent an hour trying to shift the laptop around on the pad so that it would run cooler, but nothing seemed to help, so I unplugged the USB cable. Again, immediately (within a minute) the CPU temp dropped from 82 to 77, and within 10 minutes was back down to around 66-68, which is what it normally runs at. from Amazon.com I have had other coolers and they were loud and did not cool very well.
