One of my all time favorite children's books ... you can't go wrong with a Bill Martin Jr. book! from Amazon.com This book is a classic! I purchase it for every new baby I know! You will not go wrong with this book! from Amazon.com I bought this book, Runaway Bunny and Baby's First Mother Goose for my first grandchild. All are classics and should be in every child's library. Brown Bear teaches animals and colors, and is so easy to "read", our children were "reading" it themselves at age 2. We often sing a song with it and use a flannel story as well. from Amazon.com My son is now 10 months old and we are attending reading circle at the library - and one day I happened to stumble upon this book at the end of the class when the librarian dumped a pile of books on the floor for children to browse through. I immediately liked it. The story line is simplistic - a single animal with a certain color is named, and then asked what they see. Their answer becomes the next animal in line to be asked that question - "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see? from Amazon.com Plus, a lot of the kids have read this in Kindergarten or Preschool, so it is familiar to them and they feel comfortable and participate. We read Eric Carle books all year long and the students love his distinctive illustrating with the bright and colorful images. I also revisit this favorite book at the beginning of each new season and we create our own classroom book based on the things we see as the seasons change.
