Best Storage Controllers for Hard Drive

this product is really intended for someone that does a lot of work on hard drives.

i was excited when i got this product b/c i had an essay i had to get off my hard drive to turn in tomorrow.

i sure needed this thing my old pc burned out so i needed access to my hard drive and this is the solution for my needs it worked like a charm but my first try i shocked my first hard drive what i

product works great with no setup time plug and play i use mine for a dvd and secondary hard drive backup

i installed the card in less than five minutes on the back of my ide ata hard drive and used all the cables that came with it and bingo it converted it to a serial ata drive.

on a pc with xp media center edition sp2, the system freezes when it comes out of standby or hard drive shut down.

i attached it to my older western digital ide hard drive, plugged it into the second sata slot on the motherboard, and poof, nothing.

works fine with old ide hard drives.

i installed it and it worked, no issues or nothing i am not using my new 250gb maxtor hard drive!

it was easy to plug in an came with the power adaptor (so i did not have to buy one - even though i did.) i am assuming it is this adaptor that seems to only find the hard drive half the time.

i bought the new western digital 2tb sata hard drive (wd20eads) and tried to put it on my older motherboard, a gigabyte ga-7nnxp.

exactly what i needed to convert my sata hard drive port to my ide port that is on my computer!

i want to buy another wd esata external 1tb hard drive to use the raid option...

i thought a couple of them were flukes until i deduced that it only happened when a connected hard drive needed to spin up or be mounted/dismounted.

i bought it intenting to use it with one external hard drive, not as a raid card, but the description said it could be used with any external hdd with the appropriate drivers.

(example: thermaltake blacx esata hard drive usb docking station.

this 80 gb hard drive holds more raw + jpeg pictures than i can shoot in 6 months.

in may 2008 the hard drive failed, losing about 1,300 photos of a trip to japan.

since i shoot 8 megapixel shots and panoramas, hard drive space is essential as is the transfer rate.
