I have 2 500 gig WDs slaves hooked to it and they are working fine. My Master drive is a sata. I had 2 ATA IDE drives from my old system that I wanted to add to my new computer. from Amazon.com I've heard nothing but bad things about Sabrent products. I can't say that it is junk. from Amazon.com There was nothing in the documentation about this possibility. I prefer items that are plug and play ready, and don't destroy data during installation. I won't ever buy anything from Sabrent again, they are on my black list, permanently, the same way they erased my hard drives. Recovery software was not able to restore any data or partitions. from Amazon.com i installed this card with two old ide hard drives connected to it. from Amazon.com i had 2 ata ide drives from my old system that i wanted to add to my new computer. from Amazon.com i plugged the card in a pci slot. from Amazon.com it was not locked up, it was in the process of permanently deleting all data on all hard drives attached to the card, and it did so without warning and without any message of any kind. from Amazon.com i purchased this item for an acer computer that had limited ide controller, and wanted to add 3 additional hard drives. from Amazon.com First try not to connect any IDE devices to the card before installing the driver. My system (Vista Home Premium) recognized the card immediately and installed the default driver. However, since this card has a RAID controller, the system automatically intalled the RAID version of the driver. I am not setting up RAID, so I uninstalled the device driver and re-installed the non-RAID driver manually. from Amazon.com I purchased this item for an Acer computer that had limited ide controller, and wanted to add 3 additional hard drives. Big mistake. from Amazon.com
