I had the same experience with this product as several other reviewers, so I thought I'd summarize the steps I took to make it work. 1) If you need to run an IDE device (hard drive, CD, DVD), but your PC only has newer SATA data feeds, then you need a converter like the Addonics ADIDESA card. This product will convert a SATA data stream from your PC to the IDE (also known as ATA or Parallel ATA) data stream that is needed by the device. from Amazon.com This converter works, but do yourself a favor and check your power supply before ordering. If you have new computer that has only SATA power connections, you should buy from Addonics, in the same order, "15-pin SATA to 4-pin Molex power connector". from Amazon.com My new Dell 530 had only SATA power plugs to support the 4 possible SATA drives. There are NO MOLEX connectors. There is one mini 4-pin bridge off one of the SATA power plugs that will support the Addonics converter, however the so called T cable Addonics provides has one Molex female, One molex male, and one mini SATA 4-pin female, so no way to connect to the 530 power supply. You will need to order a "SATA 15-pin Power to 4-pin Molex Adaptor. from Amazon.com If you're trying to decide which of the many IDE to SATA converters to purchase, I would strongly suggest this one. If you have a "W series" eMachines (mine is an W5233), the angled design of this adapter will work best for your application (If you use a straight-type adapter, you won't be able to close the access panel on your computer). from Amazon.com It works flawlessly! I installed the Addonics ADIDESA IDE to Serial ATA converter in my new Dell XPS 420 (with MS Windows Vista) last month. I used it to install my older IDE hard drive in my new computer. from Amazon.com I just bought a new desktop and it came with no IDE, so I had a problem with my 250Gb IDE HDD which I didn't wanted to put on an USB box, but to use it as a secondary drive, so I bought one of these converters and problem solved, not only I'm using the drive on my new desktop it also increased it's transfer rate. from Amazon.com My new computer only had SATA connectors and no IDE connectors. This converter allowed me to use my old IDE data hard disk as my new D: drive. This converter worked without any problems. from Amazon.com This is due to the fact that the SATA hard drive power connecter is different than the old hard drive power connecter and the xps 600 only had extra SATA drive power connectors. ( Radio Shack did not have a SATA power connector to ide drive power pigtail) Addonics provided all the other wiring that was needed.
