the "confetti cut" looks suspiciously like strip cuts, so i'm not sure what that's about, but for regular home use this is a great buy.
great paper shredder but i thought it was going to shred stuff into smaller pieces, shredder is great but it cuts paper into strips.
if you touch the metal strip surrounding the mouth of the shredder it stops until you remove your hand.
i think the cd/credit shredder is fine for cd's but strip cut is marginal for credit cards.
as others have pointed out, the cd and credit card shredder is a separate slot and shreds in rather large strips.

this medium-duty unit is a giant step up from my light-duty always-overheating strip shredder.
the micorshred feature of this machine is excellant, far better than strip and confetti types.
be sure to put credit cards in at an angle as they are cut in strips.
except that the credit card/cd/dvd shredding function cuts in strips rather than cross cut (making it easy to reassemble the credit card and read the data), it's a good shredder.
moreover, since it does not produce long one-quarter-inch-wide strips that typically "bunch up" (like cheaper machines do), one can shred more pages before having to empty the container.
although my first shredder worked fine, it didn't take as many pages and it shredded strips.
i love this shredder - it does everything i want it to do, it's quiet, it's cross-cut shred it better than strip cut.

the sb-80 is a strip-cut (long skinny pieces) so if you have identity-theft concerns or need your documents absolutely destroyed, seek other shredders.

another nice feature is the separate collector bin for the dedicated credit card/disk/cd strip shred slot.
for extra security with credit cards, my advice is to forget about the dedicated slot (which cuts in 5/16" stripes), and just pass them through the paper slot to make confetti out of them.

it does get a little messy when emptying the can.if its too full, or just when emptying normally, some shredded strips are still hanging from shredder.

it does cut in long 1/4 inch strips, which is not secure, so that's why i'm selling this one and buying a confetti one.
i have had my fellowes c-120 strip cut shredder for about a month and i love it.
just remember though, it is a strip cutter and not a cross cutter.
the strip cut is fine for most applications, but tends to fill up the 13 gallon basket faster.

for basic strip shredding, this royal eight sheet shredder is pretty handy.
only does strip shredding but great for moderately good security.
for example, the strip of unique led indicators on top of the shredder is great to have.
it has extra features such as a "bin full" light/icon feature, and a see-through plastic strip running up the bin so you have an easy visual of how full it is.
this does not happen if you put paper on the metal strip.
we used to have a 15 year old "commercial strip shredder"
it shreds paper into little accordian strips but doesn't dice it, but that's okay.
i like the small strips it produces, (although i thought they would be a little smaller), and i am happy with the security that it provides me.
had a strip shredder before and having a confetti cut is a lot better.
got this today and while it does do its job as far as shredding, not jamming too often and holding a good amount in the container i don't know why they say its confetti cut when its more like strips.
it is not a cross cut, as the description claims, but rather little strips about an inch long.
