Best Shredders for Disc

i think it's a misnomer to call it a "confetti" shredder because the "chad," while narrow, is about 1-1/2 inches long, probably sufficient to discourage all but the most determined dumpster-diver

the only downside is that after we purchased it we discovered that our recycling company does not accept confetti shredded paper.

full disclosure: this shredder is being used mainly for junk-mail and your normal household paper-clutter (bills, statements, invoices, etc), with heavier than normal card and cd shredding.

it even shreds credit cards and cd discs without any problem.

it will shred cd/dvds, credit cards and floppy disks into a separate bin so the paper can still be recycled without plastic contamination.

another nice feature is the separate collector bin for the dedicated credit card/disk/cd strip shred slot.

there is a "button" that no one knew what is was for, i discovered it is actually used to pick up/hang up a call when the headphones are attached to the phone.

it would be nice if it could shred cds or floppy disks, but for the price this is a good, stable, home office shredder.

overall, with the amazon discounted price, it was a good purchase.

although, not considered a necessity, it was of utmost importance that i replace it, as quickly as possible, to discourage identify theft.

i just needed something for our computer room, no home office, but about four years of records and statements that i want to safely discard quickly.

the only problem i discovered is that there were some sharp edges inside the waste bin that would puncture the receptacle bag so i filed them off.

then, we discovered the fellowes 3228901 by searching the net for a new one that would be heavier duty, quiet (the other one sounded like a lawnmower), and yet be unobtrusive as a piece of furniture,

cons to date we have not discovered any cons only pros.
