It can shred a couple boxes of checks and be ready to go for some financial documents afterwards. It has a very large capacity waste basket which it extremely easy to empty. I am extremely satisfied with the Royal 1280MX. from Circuitcity.com This is my 3rd shredder in the last 12 months. The first 2 cost 1/3 of the Royal Paper Shredder (1280MX) but has already proved more than worth the extra expense. It is quieter, faster and much more powerful than any other home shredder I've used. from Circuitcity.com I have owned the Royal 1280MX Shredder for over 2 years and have used in regularly ( for primarily paper, but also CD's on occassion). Apparently Xerox doesn't make shredders anymor. After searching the web for a replacement, I purchased a Royal model 1260MX from Circuit City. I shreddered a few CD's and then sheddered some paper and tried to shredd a CD and it died. I called Royal and they said I had to either take it to a service dealer or send it back with the warrant. Stay away from Royal. from Amazon.com Bottom line - Awesome shredder - powers through ccards and cd's, poor design - designed to break, extra lousy customer service - gotta snail mail your warranty, and they'll ignore it - maybe try sending it registered mail so you'll have proof of delivery! Every three months I'll be slapping a new fuse in this baby, and loving it's sweet shredding power. I'll never buy a royal product again though I guess they really expect people to buy a new shredder every three months. Buyer Beware! from Amazon.com Top heavy, jams way too often for a home/office grade shredder, and my main complaint is the stupid nylon gears. One of those gears self destructed after just over a year of very light use. I really wish that manufacturers would stop using those cheap gears, but everyone does it so I guess I can't blame Royal too much.
