Sure, it's more expensive... but as with many items, you get what you pay for. I've been through the lower-cost models - a lot of them - and the QuikFinish ShredderShark outperforms them by a mile. I called the company and was told that the sensor was probably blocked by paper. from Amazon.com The automatic shreddering feature senses a feed everytime. I feed continuously, before it completes a shred I am feeding in the next batch and I've never had it jam. (I limit feed to no more than 6 or 8 sheets has recommended.) A quality product, I definitely recommend the reshredder for home office use. One would not turn on and the second one last less than 2 hours before it broke. from Amazon.com While high-tech scams may make for interesting news reports, most ID theft happens in people's trashbins where criminals dig around and find personal information thrown away. After reading some reviews of other shredders, I found most to be too delicate for my needs and lacking the disc and card shredding feature this model has. The ShredderShark does a good job of shredding paper, cds, dvds and credit cards. The description says it handles up to 12 sheets, but we have found that half that number is about right. from Amazon.com
