the station literally takes care of everything else - from analyzing the level of cleaning needed, to cleaning and lubricating the shaver head and blades, to drying out the shaver head for the next
i was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but i made up my mind to give it several weeks for my skin to adjust to the newly designed shave head, even though i had been using a braun
keep this for a few years, and use the clean and renew less liberally than braun wants you to (i use it once a week or so) this razor is far more cost effective than it would appear on the surface.
negatives are higher cost, more expensive cartridges, no hard plastic cover for the shave heads (only a large case for the whole thing), the machines desire to tell you to clean it every day.
the shaver head is washable.
rinsing the shave heads under running water is a novel feature, but whether it lengthens shaver life remains to be seen.
when i first got my norelco, i thought it didn't shave as close as my old norelco, but i think it was just a different "feel" from the shaving surface of the razor.
with this newest generation shaver we now get a bigger shaving head surface and a head that moves in and around the shavers face.
the norelco, with pivoting heads and a wide surface can capture this area of your face hands down as it glides over it.
on the box it also claims to have 50% more shaving surface, i don't know if that's true, because till now my better half has always shaved the old fashioned way, with a razor and shaving lotion.
this product pulls the hair out entirely, unlike a razor that cuts it off at the surface.
shaving was always problematic: 1) all the hairs were visible from under the surface immediately after shaving, 2) as soon as i got goosebumps (all the time), they poked out above the surface
if you ever do get around to trying your armpits you will be surprised how deep the hair follicles grow beneath the surface!
i use burt's bee's citrus spice exfoliating soap on all epillated surfaces to avoid ingrown hairs.
there are 2 power settings (low & high) and 3 interchangeable "caps" that expose increasing amounts of surface area.
and it picks up even the shortest hairs that have just poked through the surface of the skin.
i am not sure why it works better on my underarms than legs because you would think it would be easier to epilate the leg cuz the surface area is larger and smoother than the nook of the underarm.
it's taking a little longer to get to a smooth surface on the legs; however, i have noticed the leg hair is growing in much finer and there's not as much growth.
some areas work just fine using the shaver head to get started; the legs, arms for me the pubic area was one of the less painful areas to start with.
i wish i could use it on my chin more easily, but it doesn't work as well on curved surfaces like your chin or knee.
it's like ripping a huge bandage off very, very slowly, and leaves the legs not very smooth due to fine hairs breaking off just above the surface of the skin.
braun was nice enough to supply us with a little brush that helps to clean the hairs from both the epilator head and the shaver head.
it has 50% more shaving surface vs.
the sliding release button is slippery and the raised surfaces on it are too small to provide a grip.
electric razors generate tiny little hairs that behave like a fine powder, and which stubbornly stick to surfaces inside the razor through any amount of dry cleaning.
the selling feature is more cutting area for the 3 rotary blades - but the extra cutting surface doesn't seem to speed shaving.
the new one (9160xl) has more shaving surface and is quieter.
when it stops shaving well, it makes more economic sense to just replace the entire unit every few years, as opposed to the shave head which costs almost as much.
wish surface area was greater.
the floating heads do a great job positioning the cutting surfaces on your face.
this is my first norelco with a washable shave head.
i even use it to keep my shaved head slick, which allows hte current summer heat to disspate just a bit better.
both were excellent, but the alcohol cleaning cartridges were good for 30 days and the shaver heads and screens were good for about 90.
with a long flat linear surface, thats easy to do until your used to it.
> the braun shave-head has less drag on the face than the pana, by far.
but as long as i change how i hold the unit when i'm shaving the back of my head, i can at least try to keep all cutting surfaces on my skin at once.
what i like is what all norelco's have...it's the triple circles that increases the surface area to cut with.
i'm experimenting with making my own cleaning fluid, which as far as i can tell is distilled water with a small amount of glycerine and a bit of an additive such as photo-flo which breaks the surface
so, peeved, i ordered again giving the surface address (there was no indication of how the item would ship).
just don't drop it on a hard surface and let it hit on this one piece.
- the heads do move according to your skin's surface so it doesn't require pinpoint precision to shave the chin and neckline
this is a very concave, tight, sensitive, curvy surface and even with my beloved venus it is tricky enough to where i don't shave it every time i shower.
i like the shaved head thing (better than a crome dome) and tried shaving my head with a blade a few months ago and it was just too much work to shave my whole melon every morning, so i blew it off.
with the panasonic you always have to have the blade held at 90 degrees from the surface of your face, the norelco you just let the floating heads do the work, no thinking at all.
ergonomics of the shaver are very well done, it is nice to hold, the cushion/pivoting of the shave head is neither too firm nor too soft, and overall, this is just a fantastic buy.
something else that i really like about this razor is the way you can lock the shave head in position or switch over to one that can give and pivot with the contours you are shaving.
claiming 50% more surface area than before with three rings on each head.
if you gently drop the micro screen an inch or two onto a hard surface like the sink it will jar loose any hairs stuck therein.
i've never come close to dropping it though, so this may be just a reaction to the better feel of the integral's flat surface with rubber bumps.
you have to shave against the grain, and it helps if you pull your skin tight with your free hand, and try and move it and your face so that the surface of the skin your shaving is flat.
good at getting hard-to-reach curved surfaces (chin, jaw, adam's apple).
during cleaning, the fluid is pumped up to the shave head for cleaning, and them runs back down into the container.
i use it to shave my head not my beard so i have to move it around in my hands alot and it is too smooth and has no flat or grippy surfaces.
the case should have separate compartments inside for the charger and the trimmer, so the plug doesn't scratch up the trimmer surface.
powerful and very comparable to my norelco three head shaver...in some ways its even better...on flat surfaces with flat hairs, great...a bit challenging on the neck to get those few stray hairs, but
i also liked the folding design which protects the cutting surfaces and keeps the cleaning brush from getting lost.
note: being that my facial skin was hard, my facial hair difficulty breaking the surface and with either lay flat against my face or curl back under.
i tried it out and it barely scraped the surface of my stubble.
but unfortunately, for my thicker-haired beard (which admittedly has foiled most every foil head electric razor), the fine foil holes in the cutting surface is not nearly wide enough to admit my
