she is only 12 years old and it is a good buy and sturdy looking as a first machine.
unless you intend to do heavy duty sewing this machine is perfect.
while i have not had time to play with the decorative stitches much, i did use a couple of them and found it very easy to switch from one to another.
i bought this in february and have made some not-too-complex projects with it just fine.
feels a bit flimsy by sews through 4 layers at a time.
i can't believe how well built this thing is for the money you spend on it!
i can't believe the bobbin case was made of half plastic which is less durability.
at first i thought it was because perhaps the bobbin was not loaded or because the tension was off and chalked it up to my excitement to rush into a new project on my hour old machine, however, after

if you've never sewn or used a machine before, i'd recommend having someone who has help you set up the machine.nice machine, lots of features, and seems well-made.

once i got it threaded correctly (with the help of a more experienced friend), it didn't work easily, it was very jumpy, and the whole thing seemed flimsy.
the stitches were not very sturdy and the machine is somewhat difficult to use.
the machine is heavy duty yet so light.
some of the pieces, like the plastic panel over the bobbin, seem flimsy, but it should be ok if handled with proper care.
it sews a nice balanced straight stitch, a nice hemming stitch and other decorative stitches.
for simple straightforward sewing tasks i recommend it highly but if your sewing is complex or fancy i would say that going a few steps up in the price and staying with singer or perhaps pfaff..
it is very sturdy and stitched great right out of the box.
it is an excellent product...durable, handy and easy to use..i recommend this product

i will not recomend it though for making of clothes or heavy duty jobs, but it perfect for kids or just little repair works.
pros: easy to use, lots of special features, durable and dependable.
