oh , and you can decorate yardage with its ability to do a decorative chainstitch wherever you want on your fabric, even before cutting into your fabric .
for simple straightforward sewing tasks i recommend it highly but if your sewing is complex or fancy i would say that going a few steps up in the price and staying with singer or perhaps pfaff..
it is very sturdy and stitched great right out of the box.

pros: easy to use, lots of special features, durable and dependable.
i didn't buy this to be an embroidery machine, but the decorative stitches it has are very nice.
my second machine was not heavy duty enough for what i do now.
it is very self explanatory, easy to follow directions, and well made.
the sewing area is wide and sturdy.
it has a lot of cute decorative stitches and a couple built in alphabets in addition to the usual utility stitches.
