Am not a regular user, but always wanted to have a machine which should be ready at the snap of finger as we all have urgeny to put on that shirt which has a button missing, a seam open etc., but never found the time to mend it (rather did not remember) except when we took it out of the hanger. from Sears.com I have always owned singer machines. this one is a very good machine for the money. from Amazon.com But lightweight made some jobs like upholstery fabric difficult. Might be ok for mending but if you are a sewer...beware. I thought since it was a Singer I could get rid of my 60's Brother and I did...boy am I sorry. It would have still been working and now I have no sewing machine. from Amazon.com I bought this as a gift for my wife. It has excellent, easy-to-use functions, and is a great starter sewing machine.
