As room mom for my son's 5th grade class, I help the kids make a quilt themed "what friendship means to us" for the Youth Expo. Not wanting to bring 1 of my 4 very heavy machines to school and then find a place to set it up, I found the dressmaker. Mine is the older model, but it was perfect. from Hsn.com but it's not bad enough for me to pay the $ to ship it back. Not what I expected from a EuroPro even at this price because they kept saying "Don't let the price fool you, it's the same high quality"... from Hsn.com I had never learned anything about sewing as a child it never interested me. When i got this i really had alot of fun with it. it was GREAT with even the biggest jobs. I'm married and have three children so there is always something to sew up! from Hsn.com Dressmaker, huh? I am a crocheter/knitter and I generally add linings and other things to my pieces that require fabric. I had purchased a "handy-stitch" to help with my ventures - but it was very hard to control. The foot pedal is not in the box and I have been trying for two weeks to order a new one. from Amazon.com I tested this machine for a small needlework shop to see if it were worth keeping around for emergencies and odd jobs.

Although the description claims that this little machine takes the "intimidation" out of sewing, it's really a fussy little gadget that best serves experienced stitchers in emergency situations or while travelling. To expect that a neophyte would be able to know how to adjust tension and manipulate fabric is to invite verbal abuse from those who don't know what they're doing.

One of the main flaws of this machine is not necessarily its mechanics (it's far noisier than a regular machine), but its accessories; it's shipped with a pack of bobbins and spools pre-wound with the worst thread imaginable: cheap, fuzzy, short-fiber spun polyester.

from Amazon.com I purchased this sewing machine to make simple, rapid alterations on some of my cheaper clothing. I have very limited experience with sewing, but figured that an inexpensive sewing machine would be a good investment.

Unfortunately, the Euro-Pro sewing center was very disappointing, and completely failed to meet my expectations. The machine was subject to frequent jams, had a weak motor and a poorly designed electrical system, and it was very difficult to make proper adjustments to tension the thread correctly.
