This replaced another that was co-located in Ashburn, VA (the center of the Internet) and got unexpected?!? moved to Phoenix, AZ (the back alley of the Internet). The primary driver for selection of this chassis was the SuperMicro brand quality as I have several of their workstation motherboards over the years and have always been very happy with them. The features I needed were: Quality & Stability!1 Rack Unit2 Power Supplies for redundant power supplies and sources2 CPU Sockets for dual Intel E5410 4-Core CPUs8 Memory Slots for eight Crucial 2GB FBDIMMs4 SAS Hard Drive Carrier for four Hitachi 15k RPM 147GB SAS Drives2 Gig Ethernet PortsIPMI 2.0 Option for Remote ConsolePCIex x8 for 3Ware RAID (RAID10) from Newegg.com Decided to build myself instead of buying Dell like I've been doing for the past few years. Similar system from Dell would have been around $4800 since they seem to be not offering super deals any longer.
