I am not a heavy user and bought this card chiefly because of the price. I am completely satisfied. It is value-priced and if you don't already have the 4-6 pin cable, you must buy this. Most stores sell just the cable for this price. from Buy.com Just like the previous reviewer I found a great product with poor documentation (it was just printed too small to read). Plug & Play worked fine on Win ME and I was loading video literally within 2 minutes. I have a JVC GR-DVL510 and I'm amazed that JVC put so much effort into promoting the USB still link and don't plug the 1394 more. The assistant in Best Buy assured me that the 1394 was not functional and that there was no way to upload video without buying a $1600 MPEG caamera. from Buy.com I bought this particular package (4 port) because it came with the Videostudio software even though I didn't need a card with so many ports. I was quite irritated and frustrated to discover on my first attempt to transfer video from my Canon MiniDV to my computer in order to burn a DVD that this software package is NOT the full program. from Amazon.com Received today and took about 15 minutes to install on my Dell Dimension 4000 Series desktop. The camcorder was recognized, however, the connection was lost after several minutes, then the connection was regained if I turn the camcorder off and back on or unplug and replug the firewire cable. from Amazon.com I bought this card from amazon when I ordered my DV camcorder at buydig.com. When I received them, I connected them with my computer up, and it is so easy and works great! This package includes everything you need to connect DV to PC, the card, the 1394 cable and a software though I did not use that software. Consider the price if you simply buy a 1394 cable from BestBuy, it is more than 10 or even 20 dollars! from Amazon.com
