We have the version II of this and found it to be accurate and useful. We confirmed the results of this device with a professional tester and also a series of 3 day and 3 month charcoal tests....every single testing method we used matched the digital readings on the Safety Siren II. Cant speak to the III version, but they at least look similar in appearance. from Amazon.com The unit gave a reading after 48 hours (as indicated in instructions) which was consistent with a mail-in test kit. The various modes that one is suppose to be able to select don't seem to work correctly on this unit but the basic feature of radon gas reading seems consistent and is very useful. from Amazon.com I purchased this device 2 1/2 months ago so that I could have an idea of what my long term readings are and how it changes week to week. I would never again bother with those mail-in radon detectors again -- save to validate the machine -- as our device's values were shown to be the same. But, unlike those mail-in cans the results are delivered within the two days (the device needs that amount of time to calculate a moving average) instead of a month. from Amazon.com
