Best Scanners for Pass Through

there's just one: fujitsu fi-5900c sheet-fed scanner by fujitsu

it scans both sides of the document at the same time, feeds 50 sheets at a time, and the pdf's and jpeg's it creates are perfect.

i have owned several flatbed scanners and was somewhat hesitant about using a sheetfed scanner regarding quality and utility.

it seemed to have more trouble than necessary grabbing one sheet at a time, especially at the very beginning or end of a batch.

we now connect it directly to the computer's usb port and have never seen the problem again (despite weekly usage).

i use a scanner alot in my preschool/childcare to duplicate activity sheets.

the software installation directions are also incorrect so i simply clicked onthe cd's "install.exe" icon to install it.

i use it for to email expense sheets to work and saving those documents for my records.

it was along way from being usable for citing directly--perhaps ten minutes of clean-up for that one full column of news print.

archiving family photos, especially my dad's old black and white ones that were not stored very well, and mine which were fading and turning orange/yellow because of the sheets they were stored in.

i went directly to the epson website and installed the vista drivers from there.

by default, all photos are saved in your my pictures directory.

it scans directly into pdf and you can easily set the scan resolution so that small pdf files can be created when needed for emailing purposes.

small footprint, works great, quick scans, easy to use, love the fact that it will scan to a pdf format directly.

it will also scan directly to picsa.

i did not read instructions extensively prior to using the scanner; only the quick set-up sheet.
