this scanner works great, i installed it on one laptop with windows xp and one with windows vista business it operates perfectly on both operating systems. from Buy.com for a full page scanner i suppose this is as small as it can be...while i can get it in my large computer backpack, people with briefcase-style cases may not be carrying it along anytime soon. from Buy.com i use it mostly for documents, but i also use it for images and i found it scans pictures with great detail. from Dell.com it is very easy to set up and use and does a good job on documents. from Buy.com for instance, if you have it set to load on startup, if you double click the desktop icon it starts a second copy of the program, rather than running with the first that's already in the task tray. from Buy.com i use it for business in a home office, and i found it to be much faster, very compatable with my new paperport program, and smaller and more convenient with a side hinge. from Dell.com it's a little pricey, but it's worth it if you have a lot of passwords. from Tigerdirect.com this little guy powers from usb, so it has neither. from Buy.com conswhen you try to scan a photo it will not let you size the photo before or after you scan it. from Dell.com pictures scan with light vertical lines through them and are a little grainy. from Buy.com
