Epson Perfection V300 Photo Scanner
fetching price...
$118.00 Est. at Amazon
wize choice
  1. from www.amazon.com
5.0 Stars this new scanner is my first epson product.
  2. from www.amazon.com
5.0 Stars 5590, which is industrial-loud (and happens to be the reason we're buying a dedicated "website scanner") so i was pleased with the only slightly high-pitched motor sound coming from this epson v300.
  3. from www.amazon.com
5.0 Stars the reason why i purchased the epson perfection v300 photo scanner it had the best reviews of all of the photo scanners i looked at, including 2 other epson photo scanners.
  4. from www.amazon.com
5.0 Stars i've used many scanners and considering the price and ease of use this epson is a very good product

Epson GT-S50 WorkForce Pro - PC and Mac
fetching price...
$577.00 Est. at Amazon
wize choice
  1. from www.amazon.com
5.0 Stars the epson gt-s50 is the perfect home office scanner at 25 ppm (50 pages duplexed).
  2. from hmurchison, www.newegg.com
4.0 Stars epson scan software 3.61 is included and it could also use a interface overhaul though it is functional enough to get the job done and set up profiles (bw, grayscale, color etc).
  3. from www.amazon.com
5.0 Stars i will be using it with adobe acrobat in the future and i have no doubt that it will work because epson has included both twain and isis drivers.
  4. from www.amazon.com
4.0 Stars for the last year and a half, i've been using a fujitsu s510 snapscan page scanner, which is a natural competitor to the epson gt-s50.
  5. from www.amazon.com
5.0 Stars the epson wasn't very well packed when i got it.

Wize Buying Guide for Office Use
Scanners are essential for the modern office. They give you the ability to keep digital copies of important papers and invoices, use computer faxing software, and email documents to clients for perusal. Office needs are often very different from home needs, and you can save money by shopping smart and considering your needs.

If you're going to be scanning primarily documents, you will not need a high optical resolution to  capture the details and colors of photographs. For an office that scans photos occasionally, save money by opting for a unit with mid-range optical resolution (1000-3000dpi). However, if you need a scanner for intensive graphic use, a higher optical resolution will be necessary.

Most scanners can handle all dimensions of typical office papers, but if you will be scanning legal-sized documents or irregularly scaled illustrations, check the dimensions to make sure the unit can scan what you need.

Probably the most important, if mundane, detail to consider when purchasing a scanner is your operating system. It is vital that the scanner you buy is compatible with your office OS or at least that your scanner comes with software and drivers that will make it compatible with all of the system's users. Another compatibility issue: most scanners use USB to connect with routers or desktops, so make sure your computer will support its particular type of connectivity. Older computers often have few if any USB ports.
