in the home it's pretty swank looking and certainly less noticable relative to something with exterior antenae.
used for wired and wireless, both home networking and internet.
a home run by cisco systems.
when i used to bring my laptop downstairs with the wrt54g, music streaming from the laptop would skip and stutter on my home theater pc.
when we got dsl in our area, i needed to network the two computers in the home, and i purchased a netgear that was suggested by a young lady at best buy.
as our home router was dying a slow and painful death, yesterday was the day to finally can it.
i am also interested in using it with the d-link dap-1522 to create a wireless n network bridge for my home entertainment center since i cannot hard wire ethernet there to connect to my devices lan
the 724 is also a gigabit router, and my home lan is gigabit throughout, so i was looking for that.
the older router i had was starting to drop my wireless connection and give me some grief, so this router is very welcome in my home.
i just want to say this router works great with my new hp vista 64 bit home premium computer.
i have the router configured as an access point within an existing home network feeding off a dialup connection (no other options out here in rural vermont), and it took over an hour to configure
immediately my wireless download speed rose from 3mb/second to 15mb/second (i've had a belkin series b wireless router in my home for several years).
the most bulletproof home router ever...
i am running 3 laptops and 1 desktop with a 1 terabyte wireless network drive and a network printer plus a wii and a dish network dvr that is running off of the cat5 in my home and it has literally
rolled the bones after reading about this belkin unit and it is so easy to set up and range is great in our 3600 sq ft home.
i have it set up to easily transfer from my home to my truck.
i needed this router to connect to my home security system.
i never knew how easy this device would be to set-up and use (one button on/off), and am excited about having a personal "hot-spot" at home!
the wireless setup to my lenovo laptop using vista home basic was simple plug-n-play.
i will also be able to use this when the cruise ship lands in hawaii to upload pictures to wal mart and have them printed and waiting when i get home.
what's great about it:?great speeds up and down what's not so great:?configuration not for newbies "this is a great router with great bandwidth for everything in your home.
also, it’s important to know that this router is in my basement.every time i have tried to use other home wireless products like netgear/belkin/dlink, i've been burned for one reason or another.
if i could just add a new serial number or model number to the linksys drivers, and not chance messing up the wireless settings in our other home, it would be a big relief.
my desktop runs 24x7 and so does my laptop when i am home-office working.it is pricey – i will not disagree – but you get what you pay for – and when you by the latest and greatest from any
truely this is a good product for a small home network.
was finally able to get my home network set up with this router!
setting up my home wireless network using this router and the netgear wn311b wireless-n pci adapter was easy.the internet connection and the home network connection are both quite fast and work well.
two story home.
reviewthis was my first time setting up a wireless network at home.
additional thoughtsthis was my first time setting up a wireless network at home.
i picked this product up at an office max, completely exhausted from consulting web site after web site, trying to find out what the "best" router for my home would be.
thus, this router easily met my expectations and i would highly recommend it to someone that wants to go wireless in their home, but does not really want to spend a lot of money.
well i bought this router at wal-mart, brought it home easy to hook up.
hi, i'm no computer wiz, but i needed a router for home, main computer is an apple, satellite computer is microsoft vista.
if you are thinking about a wireless router for your small office/home then look no further.
the biggest draw for me was the ability to connect an external usb storage device to it and access it from any computer in my house.when i got it home i tried to set it up but ran into road blocks
it:?fast setup, amazing range, great options, solid tech support what's not so great:?price may be too high for some "i have been looking at new wireless routers since moving into a larger home.
anyway, i dont have the dropped signal anymoreon any of our 6 computers at home.
great signal from everywhere in our two story home with a basement.
i am using this product as an access point to my built in home network.
this product has proven to be an excellent value, it has allowed me to use my verizon pc card to power my wireless enabled computers from anywhere in my home or propety.
if you've got a mobile broadband card for internet service in your home and you want to share it with multiple computers, then you need to check out one of the variants of this linksys device
that allows me to use it for home internet access with desktop pc's when my cable internet service is down.
that means the familiar linksys administration panel and approach to home routers is in full presence.
what's great about it:?better than my "n" router what's not so great:?nothing comes to mind "i had to buy a router to use while i was away from home for a short period of time.
what's great about it:?quick to set up what's not so great:?none "got this router for 40 dollars and i was really worried that g would not be strong enough signal for our home.
it replaced an older d-link di-624m "super g mimo" router costing over $100 and it delivers the same signal strength in out 2000 sq ft home.
the router wouldn't pass dns requests through to my isp's dns server...even though that dns server was listed in the router's home page.
i was very impressed and would recommend this router for anyone looking for a basic home wireless router without all the bells and whistles of a more expensive n router.
i have not tested it's range but i'm able to access the connection from anywhere in my home.
we don't leave home without it.
we have 2 laptops & a home pc.
one acer netbook with wireless, one dell latitude wireless and my home built pc hardwired to the router.
cons: not as many features as available on higher end routers, but it's perfect for home and small business use, depending on your needs.
the router is located in the basement of my 2500 sq ft home and i get very good reception from all over the house (including bedroom 2 floors up and opposite corner from router).
i moved in to an older home with thicker walls and my “g” was just not cutting it.
as an i.t person i always had problem with other routers at my home.
on the computers hard wired i'm told that two users cannot logon at the same time when trying to go to the msn homepage.
fast communiations what's not so great:?none so far "i bought this product to enable wireless networking in my home and it was so easy to set up.
i purchased the actiontec gt724wgr 4-port adsl wireless gateway for my home network.
the laptop maintains a very good signal anywhere in my single-story home and straight through a couple of walls despite the modem being situated between a wood desk and a thick oak dresser.
and then one night the entire home network went down, all the lan green lights started flickering like mad, but nothing worked, not the lan, not the internet connection.
deleted network printer drivers (xerox phaser 8560) and reinstalled just to be sure no problems (based on previous bad experience with change in router on my home system).
my two kids were home from college over thanksgiving and their macbooks were in almost constant use.
the wifi signal strength is much better in the home with wireless n.
don't worry though, because #1, your dsl is nowhere near 100mbs, and #2, i don't know many people that saturate a 100mbs or 130mbs network port in their home network.
with the network setup i have at home (mix of mac and pc, wired and wireless, with a networked laser printer) this works very well.
