I purchased this router to allow me to VPN back to my home office when I am on the road. I have set up a PPTP and IPSEC VPN and they seem to work fine using Windows XP as a client along with many of the popular IPSEC clients. from Tigerdirect.com Pros: For those of you not concerned with built-in firmware (which appears to be what most people complain about with this router), this is a GREAT DD-WRT v24 platform! It flashes via its GUI, just like the old Linksys', and supports the Mega releases of DD-WRT (it has 32mb RAM and 8mb flash). from Newegg.com Pros: Easy to configure. Cons: All web sites load much slower than normal; this is even before turning on VPN; have to reboot the router at least once a day. Unstable. from Newegg.com Pros: -PPTP VPN works like a charm -remote management works like a charm -dynamic DNS is a lifesaver ! Cons: -IPSec between two of these units is unstable (I have returned 1 unit - purchased 2 originally), however happy that I was able to fall down on client PPTP to this router. from Newegg.com This is the absolute worst product I ever bought. I bought it explicitly for the VPN accessibility. I never got that to work. from Amazon.com Pros: The DIR-330 is loaded with features when they work. We bought 12 of these for our company because we wanted to controll access on the web to only a few web sites. VPN and remote management works to our satisfaction. from Newegg.com Pros: Inexpensive VPN/Wireless Solution Fairly easy setup Cons: Firmware v1.0 is VERY flaky! Limited VPN functionality Other Thoughts: This router is only good if you update it to the new v1.1 firmware (8-30-07) which I recommend you do right after you unbox it. from Newegg.com
