Turns out I could be pinged and that port 113 was NOT in stealth mode. Didn't mean SFA to me but according to Shields Up, this was bad, very very bad...*So off to Wikipedia (PTL I'm online!) to find out in plain English (I hope) what DHCP, NAT, WAN, LAN, PPPoE, IP (okay I knew that one, not that dumb... heh heh..) DMZ, MAC, Subnet and Default Gateway all mean because now I've got to get this DI-604 configuration utility happening, no excuses and the D-LINK help file and user manual just didn't cut it for me. (One point off my rating because of this.) Anywho, once I got myself up to speed on a lot of networking terminology, I had to admit that I was totally impressed with all the features in this $40 router.*By the way, I finally passed the Shields Up test by going to TOOLS >> MISC. from Mwave.com I like DI-604 is the best model by company. It is for my Sorenson videophone 100 for the deaf people use their sign langages in the United States. from Nextag.com Summary: I bought this router to replace a linksys router that I had to contantly reboot. The D-Link was only $5. after rebates and has worked flawlessly. from Mwave.com I got this to replace an Asante router that failed after about 5 years. Didn't know these things fail 'cause there aren't any moving parts. Anyway, this D-Link router has worked great so far. I've had it for about a month now and it's still going strong. from Amazon.com The EBR-2310 is a nice router and I will continue to keep it for something down the road (perhaps a subnet), but it is a shame that it lacked such features that older DLink routers have. For most people, the EBR-2310 is all they need. As for the DI-604, performance wise, speed tests check out fine. I believe that call it network port translation or port address translation. from Amazon.com Had a wireless D-Link router for a while that I ended up wearing out the LAN ports on and got fed up with poor wireless reception. Wired house with Cat5e and bought this router to share connection with other PC's in the house. from Amazon.com Pros: This router worked right away. For basic Internet access, I had a little TCP/IP reconfiguration to do on the PC side, but none to do at the router. I did update the device with firmware that I downloaded from the D-Link Web site. The firmware update process was easy and hitch-free. from Newegg.com Good wired home router and for $20 hard to beat. Inclusion of block ping from WAN side for a cheap router is nice. Cons: Had some weird issues with the old DI-604, maybe 6X I had to reset it or power it down which is minimal for 5 years. Unit is fussy about being the first part of your network powered on, so make sure you power down your modem, reset/power up the router, after the router is up and running, then power up the modem. from Newegg.com I had to return this item after 3 days of customer support hell (Can you say "Bangalore"?). I had a pretty standard DSL setup with AT&T, using a Siemens DSL modem on my Mac OSX system, and no one at D-Link customer support could tell me what I needed to do to get the modem and router to communicate with one another. I was getting kicked offline every 5 minutes and no one at D-Link had a clue what to do. from Amazon.com
